Merlin Richards is an earnest young Welsh architect, who tires of working in the family practice because of its limited opportunities. On the strength of an encouraging note from his hero, Frank Lloyd Wright, he sets out for America with his harp and high ambition. Engaged in the design of a house for a tycoon in the meat trade, Merlin Richards finds the project doomed when a dead man is found dangling in the wine cellar of the new home.
